This project was specified and designed by the team at Good Space Design Group. The clients for this particular project lived overseas for many years and were now back in Vancouver. They required a home that would be good for entertaining along with being relatively maintenance free as they travel the world much of the year for business and pleasure.
The apartment had been owned by the original owner since the early 1980′s with little to no renovation work completed. We started by removing everything from the unit including all drywall, carpet, electrical, plumbing and all fixtures. This gave us and the design team a clean slate to build the client exactly what they wanted. As with all apartment renovations this meant that there were going to be countless trips up the elevator to the 18th floor where this apartment was located. We ensured that there was a high level of protection to all wall and flooring surfaces during the entire process and worked with the building management team to create a system for reserving elevators and clean removal and disposal of material.
All water piping was re-done in copper as the existing lines were done in poly b plastic that was prone to leaks. The client also requested that we add 2 Air Conditioning units to the apartment to keep it cool during the summer months.
Custom cabinets for the kitchens, bathrooms, and walk in closets were made by Sofo Kitchens with Wenge, and White Oak being the main staples through out the unit. Granite and Caesarstone Countertops were also added to the kitchens and bathrooms. Sand on site white oak hardwood floors were added to the unit with a sound dampening cork underlay. Limestone tile was used in many locations including the kitchens and bathrooms.
