Headland Construction completed a full renovation of our 20 year old Yaletown condo in 2023. In our close interactions with the project team - Mark Ellis, the owner; Mitsuko, the project manager; and Jeremy, the site manager - we found them to be invariably professional, knowledgeable, creative and dedicated. The sub trades they used were also first rate, friendly and respectful, and provided top notched work. Our project was completed on time and within budget.
Jeremy, Mitsuko and Mark were very responsive to the questions we had, and any concern was addressed efficiently and in a timely manner. They provided daily updates on the progress of the work as well as any necessary change to any aspect of the project. Their budget tracking process was clear and transparent.

We were and continue to be so impressed with Mark Ellis and Headland Construction. Headland did a major renovation on our house in 2020. They completed the renovation on budget and on time (despite Covid), and the quality of the workmanship is exceptional. Mark billed us and updated us on the progress of the renovation monthly, so there were no surprises on costs.
The culture of the company is such that they seem to attract quality workers and sub-trades. Both the Headland staff and the subcontractors were really, really great to work with. Headland staff were friendly and really receptive to our input and questions. There were never any delays waiting for sub-trades, and their work was exceptional. Similarly, Mark was exceptional in dealing with any concerns from the neighbours.
One thing we have been really impressed by, and very much appreciate, is Headland's follow up and support after the renovation. Headland has been very prompt in addressing any concerns and continues to check in with us from time to time for feedback on our renovation, which we find exceptional.
If you ask most people who have done a big renovation of their home, delays and cost overruns are the norm. However, with Headland our project was on budget and on time.
Undertaking a renovation is a very stressful and expensive endeavour. Headland made it much more pleasant and relaxing than we thought was possible.

Headland started the project on the day we agreed to and as the project moved along, Mark always communicated with us. Mark and his team were always available to us. They respond to questions immediately and always reminded us to contact them if we needed to. If an issue arose, Headland would always discuss it with us before proceeding. They are very transparent and so trustworthy. All invoices are supported by the sub contractor’s costs.
We were always made aware of the costs and Mark came in on budget and on time. Mark was aware of the desire to be back in our home by a specific date. He was true to his word!
Mark’s team at Headland and the sub-contractors he uses are the best. Besides being so professional and experienced at what they do, they were pleasant, polite and very respectful and knowledgeable about working in a strata building.
As well as coming in on budget and on time, Mark and his team’s knowledge proved to be very valuable. They made good suggestions that in the end, were in the best interest for us.
The follow-up after the renovation also shows how they value their clients and the desire to have the home completed to perfection. We would not hesitate to recommend Mark and his team at Headland. We would never consider anyone else.

We just completed our 2nd major renovation with Headland. Engaging with Mark and his team was a no-brainer. Their project management is excellent and the results from the first project were wonderful. We felt confident that we would be in good hands.
The recent renovation was delayed several months by strata. It was a last-minute delay and Mark was accommodating and put as much in place as possible while we waited for a start date. This also created a time crunch towards the end of the project. Headland worked tirelessly to make sure we could occupy the suite when we needed to be out of our temporary accommodation.
Working in condominiums is always challenging and our building is no exception. But our concierge staff were extremely happy with the way that Mark’s staff and the trades interacted with them. Renovations can be very disruptive and challenging to neighbouring suites. Mark’s crew were respectful of work hours and of our soon to be neighbours.
One of the things that is most outstanding is the quality of work. The overall result is beautiful and functional and the attention to detail extremely good. We are very happy with the results and wouldn’t hesitate to engage the Headland team again if we were doing another renovation.

We cannot recommend Headland Construction highly enough. Mark and his team have guided us through two renovations - a small reno of our Kitsilano condo in 2017 followed by a major, down-to-the-studs reno when we upsized to a house in 2021. Headland prioritizes relationships and it shows through everything they do.
Mark always took the time to explain the pros and cons to help us make a decision, patiently adapted the plan when our budget or timeline required it, and worked collaboratively with us and our designer to accomplish our vision. His team and roster of trades are equally impressive, going above and beyond to make sure we were happy and always starting from a place of "yes, we can do that!". Our home in Kitsilano went through a major renovation in 2018. The scope of the project involved new flooring, a kitchen redesign, new wiring, plumbing upgrades, considerable mill work as well as painting and appliance installation. The work was completed by Mark and his crew at Headland on time and on budget. We were very extremely pleased with the quality of the work completed.
Going into the project, we were especially concerned about the noise and inconvenience experienced by our neighbours. The tradesmen at Headland did an exceptionally good job of speaking to neighbours and working with them to minimize their inconvenience. As a measure of their success, neighbours made a point of telling us just how good the Headland team communicated to them. Many neighbours actually were so impressed that they ended up having Headland do some work for them.
The site was always clean at the end of each work day and the exterior of the house was well protected from the interior work.We were so pleased by our experience with Headland that we undertook another major renovation for a family members home in 2019. Mark’s communication with us throughout the project was excellent. The project budget was reasonable and did not escalate. Every sub trade working with Headland is best in class. The schedule was adhered to with occasional exceptions properly communicated.
It was a bonus that Headland’s work is respected by the City of Vancouver engineering and inspection staff that helped avoid delays when inspections and approvals were required.
